Social and Sustainable Procurement Framework

When engaging with suppliers, Kāinga Ora seeks to deliver social and commercial value by incorporating social and sustainable procurement objectives, where appropriate. We endeavour to weave these objectives together with our commercial and community objectives, ensuring all strands are equal so that outcomes woven by Kāinga Ora for Aotearoa New Zealand are strong and robust, much like the harakeke itself.

Whai Kāinga Whai Oranga

Whai Kāinga Whai Oranga is a four-year, $730 million commitment to speed up the delivery of Māori-led housing. It funds both small-scale Māori housing projects and larger developments, from repairing existing homes to building new ones. Whai Kāinga Whai Oranga is jointly administered with Te Puni Kōkiri.

He Taupua Fund

He Taupua funds projects that strengthen Māori organisations’ ability to deliver kaupapa Māori housing on their whenua.

DOC Community Fund

This fund supports community-led conservation projects on public and private land.

Progressive Home Ownership Fund

As house prices have increased, many individuals and whānau who would have once bought a home have been priced out of home ownership. Progressive home ownership is one way to help them into their own homes.

Mātauranga Kura Taiao Fund

This fund supports whānau, hapū and iwi to preserve traditional Māori knowledge and its practical use in the management of indigenous biodiversity. From 1 March, we will be accepting applications to the fund year-round.

He Taupae Fund

He Taupae funds projects that increase the technical skills and resources of Māori organisations to build housing on their whenua.
