We’re excited to announce that GovGPT, a powerful AI-driven tool designed to help small businesses navigate the complexities of government services, is now live. After months of collaboration and development, the pilot web app has launched, and it is set to make a significant impact on the way small businesses interact with government agencies.

The journey to simplify government services is no small feat, but GovGPT takes an important first step by delivering quick, summarised answers to small business queries. For many pakihi Māori, understanding how to access government support can be overwhelming, with a vast range of services, eligibility criteria, and compliance requirements to juggle. That’s where GovGPT comes in, offering concise and tailored responses to questions about government services.

Although this is a pilot phase, currently limited to a small selection of government web pages and aimed at supporting small businesses, the tool is already proving to be an exciting innovation for the business community. Importantly, this includes pakihi Māori, who will find GovGPT a valuable resource for navigating government systems that have often been hard to access.

Whāriki’s Role in GovGPT's Development

At Whāriki, we’re proud to have played a key role in supporting the development of GovGPT. This initiative aligns with our commitment to empowering pakihi Māori with the tools they need to thrive.

Give the tool a go!

We invite you to jump on and try the GovGPT web app, now available through the Callaghan Innovation website. The interface is user-friendly, allowing you to get the answers you need in a matter of minutes in English or te reo Māori.

Please keep in mind the tool is an early-stage pilot, and we’re actively seeking feedback to fine-tune the service via the AI Activator Community platform.

Note: There are currently restrictions on the number of questions per session, so please be patient and considerate while using the tool. Your experience and feedback will be instrumental in improving GovGPT for everyone.

What’s Next?

The pilot phase will run until the end of December, during which time GovGPT will continue to evolve based on user feedback. Afterward, discussions will be held about its future and potential full-scale rollout. We’re confident that the lessons learned during this pilot will help refine the model to better serve the businesses community.
